Welcome to the Garden, Creekside Elementary!
Third graders at Creekside Elementary are nearly finished with the 10-module Grady’s Classroom curriculum. Here they are joined by (pictured in back row, left to right):
Ash Sharma, Creekside Elementary third grade group adviser; Emily Veselsky, Creekside Elementary Community Schools site coordinator; Senator Melissa Ratcliff (D-Cottage Grove); State Representative Andrew Hysell (D-Sun Prairie); Michael Wheeler, co-founder, Grady’s Classroom; Kieran Mitchell, student, Creekside Elementary
Smiles like these remind us why this work matters.
Recently, students at Creekside Elementary in Sun Prairie, Wisc., had the chance to celebrate learning, curiosity, and healthy choices alongside community leaders Senator Melissa Ratcliff and State Representative Andrew Hysell.
Through Grady’s Classroom™, students are exploring where food comes from, learning about vegetables from different cultures, and building confidence to try new foods, all through hands-on lessons designed just for kids. What starts with planting seeds and tasting veggies grows into something bigger: curiosity, confidence, and lifelong healthy habits.
We’re grateful to the educators and school leaders who make space for innovative learning, and to community partners who take the time to see this work in action. When kids are supported by classrooms, schools and communities working together, powerful things happen.
These students are proof that when we invest in health, education and opportunity early, we help kids—and communities—grow strong roots for the future.
